Agua Dulce / Acton

Country Lifestyle Living in Agua Dulce & Acton

The quaint, friendly communities of Acton & Agua Dulce are located in two separate, small alluvial valleys nestled high in the San Gabriel mountains, bounded on the north by the Sierra Pelona mountains, and to the south by the Angeles National Forest. The Antelope Valley freeway gives easy access to the San Fernando Valley as well as to Los Angeles for the residents who commute for work. It takes a quick 20 to 25 minutes to reach the San Fernando Valley and approximately 55 minutes to Los Angeles. These are two of the few remaining lifestyle areas in Los Angeles County. The old west and "ol' homestead" feeling and' attitudes are still alive and well here today.

Agua Dulce is famous for the spectacular and fascinating geological formation of Vasquez Rocks. The "rocks" were named after an early California bandit, Tiburcio Vasquez who used the "rocks" as headquarters and refuge from pursuing posses'. The rocks in the early evening are beautiful. Nothing can compare to the relaxation one feels as the sky at sunset lights up in a display of magnificent shades of purple and orange hues. The community puts on a spectacular Easter sunrise service at the "rocks".

The tranquillity of the area and the rolling hills filled with native California Junipers entices people to the Acton and Agua Dulce area to get away from the hectic city lifestyle. The clean, clear mountain air, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and the stars at night are some of the motivating factors, as well as the friendly and involved "close knit" community feeling.. A very low crime rate, less than .8% of the whole Santa Clarita Valley, and neighbors who watch out for each other.

Our weather offers the four seasons. During winter we're sprinkled with snow, and spring' brightens our hills with the most colorful flowers nature can provide. The diversity of the weather provides a variety of activities, from riding a horse in the early morning or evening during the summer to having snow ball fights in the winter. Summer evenings cool down more than your lower elevation valleys. The altitude ranges from a low 2400' to more than 4000', keeping our summers cooler than expected.

There are also a lot of community activities children have the opportunity to join. 4-H Club, where the children learn how to raise and take care of animals, Little League, horse shows, gymkanas, soccer, football, and scouting.

There are several local events to take part in. Agua Dulce has a country fair that is kicke'd off by a parade, in which many of the local residents participate. At the fair, local folks enjoy several game booths run by community organizations such as the Women's Club, Civic Association, Senior Citizen Club, and the Lion's Club. Also at the fair there is dancing to live country, jazz, and pop music. Acton has a huge celebration for the 4th of July. The festivities begin with a parade and continues throughout the day and into the evening with game booths and concession stands run by Acton's organizations. There is also dancing to live music and various other activities enjoyed by all Who participate.

Both Acton and Agua Dulce give interested buyers a wide range of choices. Buyers have one of the three options:

1. Buy a ranch home on acreage (home's range from as low as $185,000 up to well over a million)

2. Purchase acreage and build the home of your dreams (parcels of land range from $50,000 and up)

3. Buy property for investment to divide into smaller parcels, these range from ten, fifteen, to twenty acres and up. After division you can keep one and sell others, making the cost basis on your own home much less.

Both areas have specific zoning in keeping with rural open space densities. Acton has 1-2 acre zoning. Agua Dulce has an ordinance for 2 acre or larger parcels.

Developers have discovered these areas and many subdivisions on acreage are in process as more and more people are leaving the hectic city life and taking advantage of the relaxed country life. Won't you Join Us!!
